The shop celebrates its 19th "birthday" today! All orders or in-store purchases (for qualifying items) between March 27th and Sunday April 2nd will receive a 19% discount. Visit our Sale page for full details.
We've put together some Mystery Bags of Erica Michael's Petites (Silk Gauze) charts. This is a great value of 4 charts for $10 (regularly $65 for the 4). It's a random selection of her older Petites designs and a fun way to get started with silk gauze. You'll find them in our online catalog. Good while supplies last!
In preparation for our move to a new location in August, we're holding the first part of our big moving sale this Saturday from 10am - 4pm in the driveway behind the shop. We'll be open until 5pm as usual, but we're holding the sale earlier in the day so we can catch the great weather. We'll have tons of cross-stitch charts, kits, fabric & thread grab bags, accessories and more. Some of this will be posted to the sale page of our website, but not all of it. So if you're local, do come by for the best selection.
We'll continue with the sale for a few weeks, adding items as we make our way through sorting what to move (or not). If you miss coming Saturday you can visit us on our open Sunday in July - July 5th.
This year instead of our "egg"cellent Anniversary we'll be doing a Spring Cleaning sale through out April. We're starting off with some threads we don't sell much of these days so we're going to clear out the space for other items. Our in-stock supply of Kreinik Mori, Serica and Bella is 40% off. You'll find our listing of sale colors off our Sale page. If a color you need isn't listed there it means we no longer have it in stock, but we will still Special Order any of these threads for you at the regular price. Sale prices are:
Today is the shop's 16th birthday. We opened on Saturday March 28, 1998 at our first location on Park Street. We spent 6 years at that location, moving to Webster Street in 2004 (after our space was leased to a restaurant). After 6 years on Webster Street we moved to our present location, in large part to improve our parking situation.
I thought you might enjoy a few photos of the various shop locations if you've not seen them before. Park Street was about 1,200 square feet of retail space. Webster Street closer to 4,000 square feet and our Clement address provides us with 3,000 square feet. I do sometimes miss the intimacy of the space on Park Street but definitely not the parking problems :-)
Park Street Window (yes, we do occasionally miss having a window display)
Anne (Gloriana Threads) when she worked for the shop before Gloriana Threads took off!
When we moved to Webster Street the walls and ceiling were both white...
so after we'd been there for about a year we painted the walls purple. With 18' tall ceilings this helped make it seem a little less cavernous.
Being on two "main" streets parking became a real issue for us so in 2010 we decided to find a space with better parking options and off the beaten path. Our current location was built in the 1950's as a pencil factory (Listo) and we've got lovely post and beam construction with a fabulous ceiling. We get a number of people who wander by (especially from the golf store across the street) attracted by the ceiling and the pretty threads on the walls.
After looking at a lot of different space options in 2010 this felt like home to us - you know that feeling when you enter a space and it feels comfortable. We love the light, airy feel and the layout feels bigger than our previous space even though it's smaller. We have of course, filled it to the brim!
We also want to wish Happy 16th Birthday to Lakeside Linens, who celebrate on the same day!
Thanks to all of you who continue on the stitching journey with us. We appreciate your business and continued support. Stop by Saturday March 29th for some tasty treats and to take advantage of our "Egg"cellent Anniversary Sale!
